shit my sister left here:

being that my sister has three children now, she tends to forget a lot of things. she stopped by for a few hours on saturday and left more shit. i did check under the furniture for any missing kids, but this is all that i have come across thus far.

count with me:

1. jacket for 5 year old boy

2. jacket for 2 year old girl

3. sweater for baby girl

4. sweater for 2 year old girl

5. bottle for baby (still full, since washed)

6. nalgene for 5 year old boy

and yes, documenting this does provide me with much entertainment.

green with envy

when i was pregnant with kylinn, i made a lot of concessions. i wore my girlfriends old maternity clothes intermixed with just a few simple, cute, new things. i listened religiously to every word in my childbirth class even though a lot of of the information was rather outdated. i actually cared about the shitty things strangers said ("are you breast feeding?" and "how old are you?") including the toothless cashier at meijer who had to poke her nose in the car seat to look in at my "pork roast."

so when i became pregnant with tegan (yes, another successful planned adventure) i vowed to be different. i was stronger, more mature and much more callous. i had coached my sisters-in-law through their tough public outings "my boobs, my business" and "old enough" they would say. yes, i was tough, and prepared. never mess with a woman who insists on always putting shoes on an infant in public (the sign does say "no shoes, no service" there is no age listed on it, either) no. i eat shoe-less baby mothers like you for breakfast.

this time. ahh, this time. this time i refused to wear any pants that looked like i first had taken a crap in them. i refused to wear anything that came even sort-of above my hips. i refused to wear any shirt that was not fitted, and anything that was remotely triangular went to the donation pile effective immediately. this time, i promised myself two things: a terribly overpriced pair of designer maternity jeans and a terribly overpriced stroller that could transport both kids without being a bus. (thanks to my dad & step mom, i did not have to buy the stroller!)

so although i no-longer have to wear my cute farmer maternity jeans, my seven's and diesel's are not too far away in my closet patiently waiting for their day to come out of hiding. and i will continue to prance around with my fancy new stroller (making the momma's jealous) and my humongous quadruple sized boobs (making the daddy's jealous) with my two fantastically adorable kids (bias is a wonderful thing) and life will be good.

now, if it weren't so damned cold...

Your Baby: Preparing For Labor

Fully developed and ready for birth, your baby will weigh somewhere between 6 and 9 pounds and will measure between 18 and 21 inches in length. When labor starts, your baby's body shifts gears to prepare for the journey. The fluid in the lungs is absorbed, airing out the lungs in preparation for breathing. The fetal hormones are on the rise to help maintain blood pressure and blood sugar levels after birth. Lastly, the baby represses his breathing movements in order to gather energy for delivery.

back to normal?

so now we're all back home. and other than the fact that i'm still pregnant, life is good. and really, still being pregnant and having been able to attend the funeral services really is a good thing. everyone we run into asks about their chance of winning on their squares, and honestly, we have no idea. i have my 38.5 week appointment tomorrow and hopefully something will have changed. christian & brittian's wedding is just fifteen days away and i'm hoping to be halfway decent by then and have had the baby.

kylinn loves her flower girl dress and we had to pry it off of her little body. she thinks she is a princess and spent the better part of the morning playing cinderella with a fake pumpkin.

after finally convincing her that she had to change (in fear of destroying the dress before the wedding) she chose a periwinkle laura ashley dress with smocking and small flowers across the bodice. she put it on and asked, "just like prairie dawn?" yup. just like prairie dawn. pretty plain in comparison to the dress she flitted around in earlier. i had to laugh. she always has to "be" someone.

so hopefully, she'll go take a nap soon and i'll take some sort of tylenol cocktail to get rid of the headache that i've had for a week and life will be good again. or at least back to normal.

it's not too late to get in on the action!

we still have a few remaining squares to guess baby vanover's gender and due date. if you're interested, just let us know. there's some fat cash up for grabs.

with kylinn, i read all of the wives tales and assumed that i was having a boy. i didn't have any type of feeling or dreams or whatever, i just decided that that's what it was. with this pregnancy it's the same thing... nothing. so even though we have to wait a few more weeks, i've decided to post the results of this quiz, just for fun.

60% chance of a boy (with both kids!)

and as far as the chinese gender chart they're both girls.

regardless, this pregnancy thing is getting old.

Your Baby's Development
The wrinkly, tiny fetus you may have seen on earlier ultrasounds has given way to an almost plump baby. There is fat on your baby’s cheeks, and powerful sucking muscles also contribute to your baby's full face. Your baby now weighs a little under 6 pounds (2,721 grams).

32 weeks and counting

this is not a picture of my baby, although my baby should look like this now. it's crazy to think that in less than eight weeks i'll be a mom of two children. plenty of stuff is happening right now with the holiday season in full swing, two weddings, a baby & a bridal shower, a birthday party and of course all of the family gift exchanges to keep my mind off of being so darn pregnant.

so during my ob appointment today, i found out that my sweet babe is head down (rock on) and although i am measuring right on time, it's pretty unlikely that i'd go full term. excellent news seeing that we have my brother-in-laws wedding just three days after my edd in which my darling baby kylinn is a flower girl. not to mention that i'm pretty much over being pregnant at this point anyway. i've gained 19 pounds so far and feeling rather boobielicious and i fear that my ass is not capable of expanding any further without spontaneously combusting.

on top of all of that, my new carpet (yay!) should be in by next week, and my basement should be dri-locked by the twentieth. we can't wait to get our christmas tree up and start decorating, so as soon as the carpet is in we'll be hanging stockings. right now my house feels so barren and jewish as the only thing we have up are some pretty candles. oy veh. i'm schvitzing just thinking about all of the chachkes that we still have to shlep out.

encouraging email from fit pregnancy

Hello!

Your baby will soon weigh 3-5 pounds, looking more like a baby as this extra weight plumps him up. He’ll make purposeful movements to get comfortable and his lungs - among the last organs to develop fully - continue maturing now. You may notice that your weight brings more discomfort (the volume of your uterus alone can be up to 1,000 times larger than it was before you got pregnant!). And that fatigued feeling you remember from the first trimester may return. During this trimester, you may experience any variety of the following: Braxton-Hicks contractions (periodic uterine contractions that don't grow progressively stronger, more intense or more regular), heartburn, lower-back pain or shooting leg pain, hemorrhoids and bloating.
