(yea, yeah it's not tuesday... oh well)
we all have songs (not necessarily favorites) that spark memories of our past. let's make a virtual mixtape of our former years.
here's a few for me:
elvis costello/cracker/morrissey/the cure... one awesome summer with my sister and that old escort.
sarah mclachlan "ice cream" (adam)
vanilla ice "ice ice baby" (those long busrides in elementary school)
kris kros "i missed the bus" (my long lost friend, tanya '92)
salt n' pepa "shoop" (homecoming '95)
outkast "caroline" (kylinn in utero '04)
james (adam helping to redo my childhood room '95)
madonna "ray of light" (camping at the pinery '98)
beatles anything (my mother)
neil diamond "cracklin rosie" (amy right playing tonk in my sisters old apartment '98?)
jewel "who will save your soul?" (swim team- erica '96)
pretty much anything by O(+> brings back fond memories of adam, lisa, brandy and the occasional erica.
will smith "wild wild west" (our wedding '00)
missy elliot "work it" (steve & jacq's wedding '02)

(Everything I Do) I Do It For You - Bryan Adams - the first song I ever danced with a girl to (Briana Dziekan - '91)
and while we're at it, let's get the other Bryan Adams song out of the way:
I'll Always Be Right There - the song Aimee and I had as our wedding song
Virtual Insanity - Jamiroqaui - I can't remember if this was '97 or '98, but I used to play this song every night when I closed down Carbiou and did a little dance on the benches
I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred - A song that I made a really bad music video for when I was in middle school or high school. It haunts me to know that it is floating around someplace out there, and one day will probably be on You Tube
Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot - if my group of friends had to have an anthem, this would be it. It's played at every social event.
Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond - You can be 99.9% sure that if there is karaoke, I'll sing this song
Maneater - Hall and Oates - Just because I wanted some Hall and Oates on my list.
Rolling Down A Sandhill - The Wiggles - because Sarah thinks I do dirty things to this song
hmmmm... one more...
Back in the USSR - The Beatles - Because this is my FIRST musical memory EVER. I remember listening to the White Album with my Dad on the old hi-fi record player we had in the living room of our old house. I distinctively remember this song because he would CRANK it up at the beginning with the jet flying over.
I have a ton of other songs, but I'll have to put those on Volume II.
man, you have quite the memory. I cant even remember what I did last weekend... I think I laughed the hardest at this from your list: james (adam helping to redo my childhood room '95) That story I do remember, haha.
I only have recent memories: Prince, P-control, my little sisters wedding. Still not sure it was actually played... maybe I was just too tipsy to remember clearly. That must be it....
oh.. and I got your message about the 1cent flights. That was an awesome deal, but I couldn't make any of the dates work out well.... I hope they run that sale again sometime, with more available dates!
yeah... james... i didn't know how to put that, but it's a funny story nonetheless.
p.control will forever remind me of your sisters wedding, too.
and nora jones reminds me of you. and actually avril lavigne (yuck!) does too.
i love hall & oats. "rich girl" is one of my favorite songs to sing at the top of my lungs in the car.
i used to think hall & oats "voices" album cover, led zeppelin IV, and michael jackson's thriller album were so cool because you could open them up and see a full picture.
to a kid, that was simply incredible.
nktob--junior high years
and i'm too sexy, sung in spanish, high school spanish class....
soy tan sexy que mi amor...
