me: "did you go potty?"
ky: "yes! come see."
me: "i can't. wipe & flush."
ky: "what?"
me: "wipe & flush. let's go."
ky: "what? i can't hear you!"
me: wipe and flush." (slightly louder)
ky: "what? i can't hear you!"
me: wipe-and-flush-and-get-out-of-there." (loud)
ky: "what? i can't hear you!"
me: "do you want candy?" (softly)
ky: "YES!"
me: "kylinn! you can hear me!"
ky: "no i can't."

Let me set the stage.Kylinn and Granny after story time at the Library today. We have been playing in the puppet theater for over half an hour. Granny says"Kylinn, time to go" Kylinn says nothing. Keeps playing. Granny says "Kylinn let's go now" Kylinn continues to play. After several more times of this, Granny says "Kylinn let's go. It's time for a milkshake". Kylinn says "Okay, let's go."
why am i not surprised...
