i tend to get very excited when i see that some of my favorite toys as a child have been reproduced for my children's generation, however i am almost always disappointed. my sudden sense of nostalgia is almost instantly replaced by a deep sadness, and an awareness that even more our beloved toys are one step closer to the bratz collection.

I think it is pretty sad to see that the lincoln logs that I had as a child that were wooden are now made out of plastic. Also my fravoite strawberry shortcake dolls do not have the same looking faces that I remember as a child. Why can they not leave things the way they were?
That's odd - because we just bought some Lincoln Logs and they are wooden, and I believe that you guys have wooden Lincoln Logs too, right Meagan?
Maybe they were knockoffs, like Jimmy Carter Logs (so you can build your Habitat for Humanity Houses).
Being a guy, I've noticed that most toys have remained unchanged - Hot Wheels, GI Joe, Star Wars, Transformers, they're all pretty much the same thing, maybe a bit less violent, but still pretty much the same form.
indeed. we have wooden lincoln logs. they are special edition, but they do come complete with possible splinters, and serious chocking hazard mini-logs.
awesome.
You know what was cool?
Cooties.
and they still are! we do have the new cooties, and aside from the legs with rollerblades, they remain unchanged.
oh, I was talking about the early childhood introduction to VD, but whatever, those are cool too.
ahh yes... that version of cooties.
that has indeed remained unchanged as well. it is still popular on the playgrounds of today.
You never hear about anyone dedicating their life to finding a cure for cooties.
I think I might have a new mission in life.
i hate dolls, so i tend to stay away from that section, but i do believe that dolls are the ones that have changed the most. no wonder our little 4 and 5 year olds want to dress hootchie...
i remember playing with adventure people. do they still have them?
They must still have wooden lincoln logs but I have seen plastic ones in the stores. Also when I was little I had a Holly Hobbie oven that really looked like a stove/oven now they all look like microwaves.
