in first grade i only wore corduroy pants. i hated them because they made so much noise when i walked, but my mom forced me to wear them. it was many, many years before i could break out the cords again (actually, it was during my rad poser-grunge-rock fad in junior high)
but by choice- i wore many many pairs of shortalls with one strap down. i also must confess to wearing a vision streetwear sk8boards shirt until it rotted and owning "dwyane wayne" sunglasses. thus completes my 1989 fifth-grade wardrobe.
thank god that i'm so cool now.

There are two things I remember wearing frequently:
Hypercolor tshirts
and
Crosscolours clothing
i had way to many i.o.u sweatshirts...
I also remember moving from Rochester to Armada when I was in 3rd grade. After the first day of school my two sisters and I sat down and figured out how to "tight role" our pants. It was the coolest!
hypercolor ha!
i remember wearing pegged pants and lots of black...or benneton
as well as the feathered bangs ratted out and sprayed with schlacking hold hair spray...
pennyroll, pinchroll, pegged, tightroll...
ahh, many different names, but one fabulous style.
hah.i had hypercolor. and bum equiptment. and hammer pants. and get used jeans... but that was my sixth grade wardrobe.
We used to call it "french rolled", but that's because we were all queer and Canadian.
I was thinking about this some more this morning, and I can remember some other stuff that we wore, and I know there is no way kids today could get away with it:
Spuds McKenzie clothing
and
Big Johnson t-shirts
i vividly remember the day that the big johnson shirts were outlawed at school. as well as those snazzy snap bracelets.
hmm, you know we spent many a bus ride chanting "tastes great/less filling"
it's all good in the 'hood
i would not wear jeans until around the 5th grade...so until then i wore any type of stretch/sweat/cotton pants. i remember a lot of stirrup pants! haha!
although in the 4th grade i broke my toe and had a cast up to my knee (don't ask why!?!?!) and i recall having a hard time fitting my huge foot through the tight stretch pants, i can't remember what i did about that!
I think I've completely blocked any and all fashion memories pre-1998 out of my head...
i had an insane amount of baby doll dresses in 92
and my sister had more than one "blossom hat"
brittan. why?!?!?!
:)
i do remember printed stretch pants with a long tee shirt with that whole belt buckle thingy to put on the corner of your shirt..
