after four and a half years, i finally finished painting the hallway (kids) bathroom. (well, i still need to repaint the trim, but i'll do it when i paint the crown moulding downstairs) it had been sitting in blue primer limbo for nearly two years. i decided that i was unable to look at it anymore in it's current state, and attacked it with a vengeance on friday. it is the denim painting technique by ralph lauren, which requires doing opposite panels over two days, and time restrictions, and multiple steps, so i actually completed the project yesterday. adam even rewarded my efforts with a sweet new light fixture. i had done the denim & chambray in my old house, and thought solid denim would be super cool for the bathroom. surprisingly, the dark colors make the room appear larger, perhaps due to the vertical striping. and the white stitching (yes, all hand-painted with a stencil!) brightens up the entire area. be sure to check it out the next time that you're over!

looking good!
I LOVE it! The stitching effect is really awesome. Wish I had the knack for stuff like that. My house is plain and boring.
thanks!
your house is not plain- it has a lot of colors. i'm finally growing tired of neutrals. i need some warmth in this joint.
my master bath is done in the suede technique. that's really cool as well (and a lot faster) but it's not as scrub-able.
This is super cute, Meg. I am getting tired of nuetrals too.
I love that!
i did it just for you, lindsay, when you come to visit. you didn't like that sloppy primer either, did you!
