finally somethign that makes cents!

when you bring your own bags to kroger you'll receive a credit of 5 cents per bag! i've been feeling pretty granola marching around with my canvas bags, seat cover and my reusable coffe sleeve (thanks, rachelle!) and now i find out that i'm making money while doing this! sweet. i've been so proud of myself, in the picture above, i spent around $100, left with 8 reusable bags and only two plastic ones. i've since bought more bags, but isn't it cool to have the added incentive? go kroger!

I've known about this, I just wish they would advertise it like Whole Foods does. What I really like about bringing my own bags is that I walk out with 2-3 bags full instead of 100 bags with just ONE thing in each!
Bring your own bag to Trader Joes and you get entered in a drawing to win a great prize. Bring your own bag to Whole Foods and you get 10 cents back. I now need meijer to get on the bandwagon.

vince & joe's pays 10 cents as well.

it ticks me off, because i've been bringing in my own bags for months and i don't think i've ever received this credit until now.

I've never done the TJ drawing and I almost always bring my bags there. Annoying - I'll check it out.

I know that the W. Bloomfield TJ's does the drawing, not sure about the R.O. one though.
Usually at big stores like Kroger you have to ask the idiot clerk for the bag refund. Most of the people that work the register probably don't even know about it.
I found these two HUGE canvas bags (probably meant for the beach) at the OldNavy outlet last summer, they only cost $10 and they hold all my groceries. AND they wash well which is important to me.

the R.O. TJs does do the drawing, i've been entered in it a million and a half times and still have not won yet. :(
there is HUGE bags like the tj's red plasticanvas ones but in pretty retro colors at ikea and i take them grocery shopping all the time and they are like "whoa, where did this bag come from?"

I just read that Whole Foods is no longer even offering plastic bags - paper or your own only.
