(don't) mind the gap

the gap company was (once again) busted for operating an overseas sweatshop where children as young as 10 were working 16 hours per day making blouses to be sold for $40, for zero pay.

Don't blame Gap - blame their suppliers.

In this case, it was a vendor who outsourced to the sweatshop - so already, you're getting fairly removed from the parent company.

I don't think any large corporation would knowingly manufacture clothing in a sweatshop.

I think they took the appropriate steps to address the issue.

Unfortunately this is not the first time that they have promised that it would not happen again. I think they should be punished as they a faulty at choosing decent subcontractors. If they have no idea where they are getting the labor from, is it really justified to just turn a blind eye to them? It seems that a profitable business would want to take pride in the manufacturing of their goods.
