thanks a lot, third-cousin to the business partner great aunt gina*,

i just wanted to thank you for that beautiful toaster that you bought us for our wedding shower. it looked so clean and made spectacular toast on demand. at first, i found it to be overpriced for such a simple machine, but then i thought that this retro looking krups stainless steel toaster was indeed worth every penny.

well it's not! i realize that it is over seven years old now, but it is a piece of crap. for two mornings now, it has burned my bread even on the lowest setting. if you knew me at all, gina, you would know that i hate toast because i like to eat "warm bread."

this is not warm bread, gina! this is friggin' croutons!!!

so here's a little advice: next time that you're invited to a wedding shower, choose a gift that will last a while longer. i know, i know, i thought i'd have this toaster well into the future, but shit happens. anyway, don't buy towels, and apparently, don't buy krups toasters. buy some salad tongs or something! i still have my salad tongs and i still appreciate them each and every time that i use them. just don't buy toasters.

it was good while it lasted, but now it's off to another life at the salvation army, because you know what, gina? it's still really cute looking.

*names have been changed to protect the innocent.

You're lucky it lasted that long.

We've been married 7 years and have gone through at least half a dozen toasters.

my cheap toastmaster toaser that we bought at K-Mart when Paul and I moved into our apartment oh, let's say 7 years ago, is still good. It toasts , and slightly warms bread just right.

Sorry to hear about your burnt toast. I like my bread like you do...

Leave the small electrics off the registry if you're going to get emotionally invested. I had a horrible blond moment and left a $300 cappuccino machine on top of the stove with the oven on and melted it - I almost had a heart attack.

Next time you should go for more utensils - they're less sentimental. I just destroyed a spatula in the dishwasher and didn't shed a tear.

NEXT TIME?!?!?!? :)
oh and i think 7 years for a toaster is pretty damn good.

actually, no rachelle! for some reason i remember everything that everyone bought for any shower/holiday/etc.

you bought me a little basket full of handmade soaps and a little rubber frog which i still have in the kids bathtub!

i think the toaster is sub-par. my mom had the same toaster for like, 12 years AT LEAST!!!! it was an old black & decker from service merchandise (remember that?!)

my toaster was like, 50 bucks. i would have expected ten years out of it. i'm going to clean it out tomorrow and see if it apologizes.
