as my sister-in-law, brittan would say, "no freakin' way."
for some reason, i started using the word "sucky" this week. i'm not sure whom i'v picked it up from as it's not a result of verbatim a la nathanael a la daneak (sp?) regardless, i've caught myself describing just about everything as "sucky." it's annoying and it has to stop.
(husband) adam: "my soccer game is at 9:30 pm on friday."
me: "sucky. i'm staying home, then."
(friend) erica: "cami said that she's writing the easter bunny a letter to tell him to leave baskets for shane and i, too."
me: "ooh, that's sucky."
(stylist) michael: "i have so much yardwork to do."
me: "that's sucky."
so after my huge drive all over the state to get my hair cut during passover, my tooth which was becoming increasingly more sensitive, was now becoming more of an annoyance. i still was in complete denial that anything could possibly be wrong, and i attributed this very rare and lingering earache that i've had all week to the sudden cold front attacking the mid-west. last night, ky sounded a little horse, so we gave her some cough syrup and sent her to bed. again, not thinking much of any future consequences which may result from negligence. i swallow some vicadin and hop into bed.
BAM! at three-thirty am i woke up in some serious pain. yup, now TFKAS O(+> (my tooth-formerly-known-as-sensitive) was causing me childbirth-topping pain. i waited until 7:00 to wake up my dentist and have him meet me at his office on his day off.
what could make this day even better? how about a two-year old with laryngitis? yep! ky woke up with no voice. adam helped me get everyone packed up and put both (sleeping) kids into the car. i dropped them off at my moms and was at the dentist by 8:15. after an hour, i was headed back to gather my family with a brand new root canal. SUCKY! seriously- how ghetto is that? i hate my teeth right now. so anyway, i call ky's pediatrician with my totally numb, stroke-like face and get an appointment for after lunch. i fly home just in time to get the garbage out (but not the tuna fish in the fridge that is stinking up my house (sucky!), take a shower and get back for my weekly lunch date with adam. after lunch we head to the pediatricians for a strep culture and other crazy tests because "everything is going around" only to find out that although ky does not have strep, she does have a virus and is contagious. "sucky!" i say. "it's freakin' easter."
so now we're home, my house is a stinking disaster, adam has soccer tonight and i still have several hours of work to do before sunday.
sucky. some freakin' friday. but at least my hair is cute.
on the bright side, my sister sent me an article about a mediterranean diet which is supposedly good for lowering the risk asthma symptoms. the diet is rich in cheeses, legumes, wine, tree nuts, olive oil, fruits and grains. i may be misinterpreting the article, but i believe it's telling me to increase my wine consumption. i think i'll start tonight.
enjoy your weekend.

i had a root canal when i was 7. i remember it being done in stages! SUCKY! hopefully she is feeling better, especially by next week so we can hang out!
It is sucky to have a root canal. I had one when I was pregnant and couldn't take any strong pain medication. Did you know that pregnancy can contribute to tooth problems? If you need any help, give me a call. Brittan, you were 7? You must win the prize for youngest kid ever to have a root canal.
That's odd...I also had a root canal when I was pregnant. I had to schedule it during my 2nd trimester because apparently that's the best time to get a local anesthetic. They did it in stages--probably so they could charge me more, having no sympathy for the fact that I didn't have dental insurance--and it was very sucky. But I guess they were right about the anesthesia. Kathryn seems to have come out of it just fine.
i was born with a crazy dental disease which causes my enamel to form unevenly or not at all. several of my baby teeth crumbled, and i had eight crowns before i was eight years old. no root canals, though.
even though my teeth are stronger now, they are still a horrible mess due to my prior enamel problems, genetics, and -as gross as it may be- a lot of morning sicknesses during my two pregnancies.
last october (at 7 months pregnant, during that supposed "glory period") i had cavities filled in the backs of my front two teeth. because i have some severe dental anxiety, i was barely functioning for about a week. i cried during the whole procedure because i was certain that my teeth would shatter. they didn't, and though they're still nasty to me, they look just fine from a distance.
needless to say for the first time in 27 years, i was in enough pain today to not freak out at all. my dentist said that i looked like i was going to fall asleep, though he must not have noticed my sweaty hands and the nail marks that i left in the arm rests.
oh well. i have a temp filling right now, and next week i have to get another injection (the part that scares the crap out of me) and get my crown put on.
i hate dentists. actually, i love my dentist, but i'd rather bite a cow than have dental work done.
no more freaking pregnancies. my teeth can't handle it.
yes, i had a filling that went bad!
wow.
1) that was the longest comment ever
2) i had 12 cavities to be filled when i came to america (before age 5), 4 adult teeth pulled before braces were put on for 3 years, and 4 impacted wisdom teeth to be taken out
3) knock on wood, i have had no probs since my wisdom teeth (and that was not really a prob as there were no pain, it was more preventative since i spent 3 frickin years in braces when they told me 1 originally) and i love going to the dentist.
4) childbirth-topping? i have yet to experience pain like that. childbirth was pretty bad...
