this past weekend marked kylinn's advancement to yet another developmental milestone. we smiled, pleased that she had reached such a point in her life, and then quickly became bitter and resentful of all of the parents of two-and-a-half year olds who were still enjoying their peace and quiet.
we have reached "the why stage" and everything we do or say is being questioned with a whiney "why?"
example:
me: "it's time to go to bed."
ky: "why?"
me: "because it's 8:00 and you're tired."
ky: "but why?"
me: "because you need to rest so you feel good tomorrow."
ky: "but why?"
me: "kylinn, it's time for bed. go upstairs."
ky: "why?"
me: "because that's the rule. don't ask why."
this has been going on long enough that i overheard her yesterday playing "why" with her dolls. "why?" one doll asked the other. "because i said so." said the other.
because i said so.
just because i freaking said so.
