dan zanes is coming to the dia!
Macy's American Music Fridays at the DIA: Dan Zanes
Friday, November 17, 2006 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Check out live American Music every Friday night in honor of the exhibition Annie Leibovitz: American Music. This week's performer is Dan Zanes:
Founding member of the Del Fuegos, Dan Zanes has, in recent years, started a record company and formed a band, performing music for children and their families. Zanes has released seven CDs, including two of folk music: Sea Music, "a collection of maritime songs including drinking, drowning, homesickness, and talking fish," and Parades and Panoramas: 25 Songs Collected by Carl Sandburg for the American Songbag. Zanes and his usual scruffy troupe of singers and musicians drag these old time songs kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Zane's photograph is also featured in the Annie Leibovitz: American Music exhibition.
