new baltimore under fire

new baltimore has made the news quite a bit lately due to the bachynski trial and the recent double-murder. i now regret to inform you that izzy's bistro (home to the mile high cakes) has burned down.

we are so disappointed as izzy's was our favorite local restaurant, and we're still waiting for the sagebrush cantina to rebuild in lake orion. damn. we need to quit going out and jinxing these places.

come back soon, izzy's. where else will we find a cannoli the size of our feet?

i don't know. i actually haven't seen it. aimee called me monday morning when she drove by.

i'm sure it was an accident. kichen fires are all too common.

There was a brief article in this week's Voice about the fire, apparently it happened sometime early Monday morning and they didn't put it out until 6am (and it was still smoldering for a bit afterward).

They don't know what the cause was yet, but nobody was hurt since they were closed when it happened. But man, that place burned TO THE GROUND. It's pretty awful, and I'm totally bummed because that was my favorite local place to eat (yes, even better than New Haven Coney!).

Hopefully they rebuild it, because it really was an awesome place to go, especially in the summer.
