an opportunity has presented itself and i'm not sure what to do about it. i didn't even tell adam because i just found out this morning.
should i join the detroit women's rowing association or not?
now i know what you're all thinking- sissy wuss, how are you going to do that? well, i wouldn't exactly be rowing. i would be the coxswain- the small, dressed one that just sits there and yells at everyone else. okay, there's more to it than that. there's steering involved, and making sure the crew is working together. but really, i would get to hang out with big, tough women and yell.
i've wanted to be a coxswain since i watched part of the 1997 head of the charles race. yes, that's right... i'd also get to travel and go to regatta's and such. how fancy is that? and the DWRA has their boathouse at the fisher mansion. i know!
well there is also the early morning practices and (ugh) saturday workouts. and the fact that i have a family, (but there is one woman with four kids!) so could i really pull it off? i guess i should decide soon, because the DWRA president & coach shot me this email:
Hey, Meagan, I do need a coxswain.
Want to cox tomorrow at 5 AM?
Give me a call
hmmm...

I think you just like the word "coxswain".
I say go for it, a woman I work with rows for them, and she always has good things to say about it.
Just watch out for all the Krishnas at the Fisher Mansion (now, do I have a good story to tell you about that... more on that later).
One more thing - my word verification for this post was: zjiggaehz - are these things getting longer or what?
i know. i could be the cox for all the women who have always wanted them. my other passion in life is roller derby, but those practices are way too far and honestly, i'm afraid of getting severly injured.
is the lady you work with beastly? apparently you have to be at least 5'7" but the girls at bu were the size of adam. and scary.
i love the krishnas. they're my favorite. go to atlanta sometime.
i think your word verification was really 'a-zig-a-zig-ah' as in "if you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
make it last forever friendship never ends."
wow. look who comments finally. i know how much you come here, darling. i do watch ip addresses & histories. i have two people in mass- you & jeremy's company. cha cha cha.
anyway, yes, the dwra goes all over-including the head of the charles. wouldn't that be cool? i talked to adam about it, and he agreed that while it is a great opportunity, it's a huge commitment. so i'm still torn.
and as far as beastly girls, the only crew members that i have ever seen live and in-person are caroline and her roomate and i know i just am not in their catagory.
haha.
hey lisa...
did you read the last paragraph in the earthworm post?
i'm sure it brought a bitchy smirk across your face to relive my horror.
